On deck: Batavia baseball alumni game

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The Batavia baseball program will hold its sixth annual alumni game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva.

Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and admission is free.

Recently renamed for Denny Holm, the late father of Batavia coach Matt Holm, the game will also feature a tribute to the 2009 Bulldogs, who set a school record for wins (30) while advancing to the IHSA Class 4A Supersectional.

“This is just another great opportunity to get everybody together, play ball and keep in touch,” Matt Holm said after last year's game, a contest won, 9-2, by the graduates of odd-numbered years against even-numbered years. "It’s not just a program. It’s not just a bunch of guys passing time together for a couple of years. They’re all brothers; to me that’s the best part.”

Alumni wishing to participate in the game can call Lori Holm at 630-887-7269.
