Guess it is a new season
Coach Sly is still trying to wrap his football-lovin' head around some of the happenings from the weekend as we look ahead to Week 2.
No rushing touchdowns for Geneva.
Batavia unable to get anything done through the air.
St. Charles North lighting up the scoreboard against a team not called Streamwood, East Aurora, etc.
My, this is a new season folks.
Coach Sly wonders whether Geneva's home field dominance is in jeopardy against Morgan Park. That win against Brother Rice gives Morgan Park plenty of street cred in Sly's book. Developing receivers and cutting down on turnovers in the passing game has got to be a priority for Geneva in Sly's book. The rushing TDs will come and that line will improve, Sly knows that. Should be a great test and a fun game for the Burgess crowd.
Looks like Batavia and St. Charles North are going to take a little time to settle in at the QB position. The West Chicago game should be a telling one for the Dogs. It's early but they need to show improvement and get a win this week.
I guess coach Gould wants to take a little time to continue exploring his QB options. Reminds Sly of last year, when it took the Stars some time to get that position right. With so many other things going right, guess there's no rush.
Any chance East comes out of Naperville with a win? Sly's having a hard time seeing it unless the Saints can find some more weapons on offense.
Kaneland-Huntley could be the best game of the bunch. Coach Sly ain't so sure Kaneland should be ranked ahead of Geneva just yet (love me some 24/7, though!) but Sly likes the Knights' chances to start out 2-0.
As for Marmion, dang. Stinks to have major injuries like that so early in the season. Football can be cruel that way, so you teams that are pretty healthy, count your blessings!
