Feelin' for the Dogs

Take nothing away from a gritty comeback win for the Kaneland Knights ... make that the still-unbeaten in conference Kaneland Knights.

But man, Coach Sly feels for the battlin' Bulldogs. Sly's not surprised in the least Batavia played its heart out as underdogs in Maple Park, and came awful close to a win that coulda turned their season around.

Wasn't to be, and even with some winnable games coming up, it's looking very much like an early equipment turn-in for Batavia ... a real rarity. Even if the playoffs aren't in the cards, this group looks like it's gonna go down fighting, and Sly applauds it.

The silver lining: looks like that sophomore class for the Dogs is going to be a special one, so better times should be ahead.

Sly's gotta hand it to the Vikings, yes, again. Santacaterina is this year's Grady ... nothing flashy, but seems to make way more than his share of big plays at big times. Charlie James also is showing winning football players grow on trees these days in Geneva.

Glad to see North is back on the winning track but Sly hears there's some off-field concerns with the tailback. Looks like North's backup is plenty capable of doing good work, but still a shame when stuff off the field could put a crimp in a team that has tons of upside.

Good thing that Stars defense is back on track!
