C'mon, pollsters
Coach Sly usually doesn't pay much mind to the state polls that come out each week but Sly's bushy, fox eyebrows were raised big time this week.
Where's Marmion? Not only were the Cadets not in the top 10, they weren't even in others receiving votes any of the classes. This despite Marmion being one of the hottest teams in the western burbs, winners of four straight in convincing fashion.
One of those wins, by the way, came against St. Francis. And sure enough, there are the Spartans, sittin' at No. 7 in 5A. Sly knows winning state counts for some name recognition, but c'mon.
Oh well ... Marmion still has a month to win over the non-believers, and the Cadets are gettin' healthier by the week.
Geneva's holdin' strong at #5 in 7A, even though some of our dear posters seem to think the Vikings have bribed every referee in northern Illinois to get to 5-0. This team is plenty good, fellas, and has beaten some pretty decent teams to get to this point.
As for this week's games, Sly is really hopin' Kaneland can take care of GBS and put themselves on a crash course with Geneva for a Week 8, winner-takes-all donnybrook.
Sly's also really anxious to see how East does against Waubonsie. Guess the Saints have to win one for the volleyball team's honor after WV strolled into STC and handed the Saints volleyball girls a rare loss on Tuesday.
No way those dastardly Foxes of Yorkville comes into Batavia and ends the Dogs' playoff dreams by the first week of October, right?
That would be a tough way to go, and Sly's hoping B-town rises up and finds a way to put some points up, both on the ground and through the air.
