New day for North gridders

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

Practice on Friday, play on Saturday.

St. Charles North football coach Mark Gould admits such a routine can be troublesome to his team, which travels to Upstate Eight Conference rival Streamwood for a game at noon today.

"It's going to feel weird even when that schedule changes a little bit," Gould said. "Everybody seems to be in good spirits, though, and seems to be enthused."

North (4-1, 2-1 UEC), which enters play ranked 10th in the Associated Press Class 7A poll, often plays one Saturday game per year. A handful of other UEC teams, including South Elgin, share Streamwood's Millenium Field, which causes scheduling conflicts.

After facing Streamwood (1-4, 0-3), the North Stars will have a short week of preparation before hosting Neuqua Valley, which fell, 63-34, at Indianapolis Cathedral Friday night.
