ST. CHARLES – Wide right, bring on tonight.

St. Charles East football players and fans erupted as St. Charles North's Alex Pohl pushed his point-after attempt to the right Saturday, clinching the Saints' 14-13, double-overtime victory and an outright Upstate Eight Conference title.

Saints quarterback Nolan Possley scored on a 1-yard run one possession earlier, putting East in position for its seventh straight victory and a likely home game in the first round of the IHSA playoffs. The Saints, North Stars and other Chronicle-area playoff teams will learn of their pairings tonight.

North opened the scoring in regulation with a 49-yard touchdown pass from Jake Bergren to Jeff Stolzenburg in the second quarter. East scored on a 1-yard Zach Zajicek run in the third.
