Grace: Every vote counts – even when there are so few of them
Well, the primary election has come and gone and we still don't know who either candidate for governor will be nor who will be running against Pat Perez for Kane County sheriff.
(Though it will be tough for Rob Russell to get the absentee votes he needs to best Donald Kramer. Reporter Kate Thayer has more on that race.)
Yes, every vote does count.
I'm curious as to why more people didn't vote and why voter turnout seems to be on such a downward spiral. Was it because of the snow? Was it because people felt they didn't know the candidates well enough? Was it general apathy? Was it because of those [expletive of choice] robocalls? (Candidates really need to consider if those are causing more harm than good to their cause. I've heard a number of people say they planned to vote for the person who called them the least.)
Whatever the reason, turnout was super low in Kane County, with just about 1 out of 5 registered voters deciding to vote early or stop by the polls on Tuesday. Are many of us just not interested in who leads our government? Has "either candidate is a lousy, no-good politician" fever spread too much throughout the public? I'd love to hear your thoughts and would like to publish some of them in a future column. You don't need to send me your name – just your thoughts. My e-mail is jgrace@kcchronicle.com.

I am by no means a pizza elitist – put cheese and sauce on bread and stick it in an oven and I'll eat it – but I have to say I've always been a little wary of Domino's Pizza. Despite this, I'm intrigued by their "new" pizza. I've not tried it yet, but it's on my to-do list.
Our "Average Joe" columnist – currently Keith Beebe, a 25-year-old St. Charles resident – crossed it off his to-do list, though, and wrote about the new Domino's pizza. Keith has been doing a great job providing the voice to "Average Joe," as well as covering games for our sports section.

We also have all of the Academy Award nominations in today's Spark! section.
I've only seen one of the 10 nominated movies for Best Picture – "Up" – in what has been a down year for me in movie viewing.
My personal top 3 movies of the year, though, were "Up," "Away We Go" and "Where the Wild Things Are." I thoroughly enjoyed "Star Trek," but agree with critics who felt it didn't deserve a Best Picture nod. Wonderfully entertaining. Didn't make a lick of sense.

Election night was exhausting, but I thought it went well. I want to thank everybody who joined in the live chat I hosted at www.KCChronicle.com. I hope to have another one soon
