Coach Sly: Nice going, ladies!

Coach Sly refuses to take another, "boring" ole unbeaten regular season for granted for the Geneva girls.

Geneva's win Friday against Batavia might have been a no-brainer, but it still is a big deal. No matter what happens in the postseason, this program has posted back-to-back, 27-0 regular seasons. That's amazing consistency, people, even if the girls themselves don't want to do cartwheels over the perfect record. Amazing!

Coach Sly can't wait to see how far the Vikings can take it in the postseason, but don't dismiss what they've already done. It's truly historic stuff, and it will be remembered.

Across Fabyan, credit the Batavia boys for evening the score in the rivalry. OK, so neither of these teams are going to wow you most nights, but they are both decent teams that can be good when they're on their game. And they combined for a fun finish Friday in one the Bulldogs had to have.

Sly also wants to give props to St. Charles East's boys for a big win at South Elgin. Coach Clodi's doing quite a job this year in Sly's book, one of the best in the area. Hopefully, the Saints didn't exhaust their upset over the Storm a few weeks too early.

Sly wants to know what everyone thought about Friday's action, plus the girls regionals that are just 48 hours or so away. Anyone think either East or North can stun those perfectionists in blue, and for that matter, who do you like in the semis ... East or North?
