Preps 24/7: Batavia hockey takes home award
The Illinois Suburban Hockey League JV division on Monday awarded its annual sportsmanship award to the Batavia club team for its display of "respect, discipline and fair play."
The Bulldogs – who also include skaters from Kaneland, Aurora Central Catholic and Oswego – shifted down from the varsity level for the 2009-10 season due to the club's overall inexperience after it graduated 10 seniors. Batavia rallied and advanced to Sunday's ISHL JV White league championship, where it lost, 8-6, to Glenbard at the Darien Sportsplex.
