Batavia artist featured at Paramount Theatre

The Paramount Theatre in Aurora is pleased to announce the featured artist openings of Batavia’s Greta Bell and Thomas King in the visual art gallery, located on the second floor of the Grand Gallery of the Paramount Theatre.

The featured artist reception is open to the public and will take place from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 25. There will be complimentary light appetizers and a cash bar for those in attendance.

All art work is available for purchase. The exhibition will run through Sept. 30.

The theater will show a collection of oil paintings by Bell, winner of the people’s choice award for Best Visual Artist at the June 2010 Aurora ArtWalk.

Bell is a self-taught artist who characterizes her work as “modern oils.” Painting with oil on canvas, Bell’s work re-imagines the faces, places and objects of the world around her, a recent news release said. Her collection will include depictions of landmarks throughout Aurora and the Fox Valley.

Bell is a resident artist at Water Street Studios in Batavia, where she lives with her family. Her work can be viewed at www.gretabell.com and will be featured on Batavia’s 2010 “Art In Your Eye” festival poster.

The theater also will host a sample of work by fine art photographer Thomas King. King’s earliest memories of photography came from the photographs his father used to take on family vacations, the release said. King tries to create photographs that will give the viewer an emotional experience.

In addition to photography, King is a website designer and an information technology trainer who specializes in Windows operating systems and social networking technologies. His work can be viewed at www.digitalartcraft.com

The Paramount Theatre Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Grand Gallery, opened in fall 2006. The gallery features the work of both established and aspiring artists.
