Preps 24/7: Score-board, score-board
The St. Charles East football team will not see its home scoreboard until Naperville North visits Norris Stadium in Week 2.
As the booster club wraps up a fundraiser drive for a proposed upgrade to the board, the Saints know the equipment could look vastly different by season's end.
They're excited, but not preoccupied.
"It's not influencing us as a football team by any means," Saints coach Mike Fields said recently. "It's great to have, we look forward to having it, but it's certainly not affecting us. If we have to, we'll stand out there with signs and tell the score if we have to. It'll just be a good thing and fun when they finally get it figured out. And they will. I have all the faith in the world."
East athletic department officials have been in contact with St. Charles School District 303 officials, who would need to approve the $165,500 project that would include a JumboTron. The board's business services committee is set to convene tonight.
