Preps 24/7: Geneva's Monaghan bound for SIUE baseball

Geneva senior third baseman/pitcher Mike Monaghan has verbally committed to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Vikings coach Matt Hahn told the Kane County Chronicle on Wednesday.

Monaghan often served as Geneva's No. 2 hitter last spring, when he helped the Vikings to a 21-14 record and a spot in the IHSA Class 4A Geneva Regional championship game.

SIUE, nicknamed the Cougars, recently was classified as an NCAA Division I program.
