Face time with Judy Corfield

Judy Corfield, 69, of Geneva, a volunteer and an exhibitor at the Fifth Annual Quilt & Textile Show at the Eastside Community Center in Batavia, recently was asked nine questions by Kane County Chronicle reporter Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, but I grew up all over the country – St. Louis, San Francisco and New Canaan, Connecticut.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Shirley MacLaine.

First job? Wrapping gifts at Christmas at a retail store.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I don’t know that I dreamed of doing anything … and I ended up working for a horticultural magazine doing circulation and distribution.

A book you’d recommend? “Dreams of Joy” by Lisa See and “The Girls From Ames: A story of Women and Friendship” by Jeffrey Zaslow.

Favorite charity? LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva.

Hobbies? Quilting and reading.

Favorite local restaurant you’ve been to recently? Bistro One West in St. Charles.

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I have been privileged to do a great deal of international travel. The two most interesting places I’ve been are the Republic of Seychelles, an island nation in the Indian Ocean and Antarctica. I’ve also been to China, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, England, France, Italy. And I still have a bucket list of places I have not been. A lot of them have been leading horticultural tours.
