Preps 24/7: SCC announces postseason football awards
The Suburban Christian Conference Blue and Gold divisions recently unveiled their postseason awards and all-conference teams. Here's a look at the Chronicle-area players who were honored:
In the Blue Division, St. Francis junior fullback Jack Petrando was named one of the league's co-offensive players of the year, while offensive lineman and classmate Kyle Bosch was a co-lineman of the year. Both players were all-conference selections for the Spartans along with senior quarterback Nick Donati and senior defensive back Jeff Rutkowski.
Marmion's all-conference selections included four seniors: linemen Ryan Glasgow and Tyler Boyd, defensive back Kyle Kozak and punter/kicker A.J. Friedman. For Wheaton Academy, senior offensive lineman/linebacker Trey Spurgeon and sophomore running back/defensive lineman John Gemmel were all-conference players, as well.
Gold Division champion Aurora Christian boasted player of the year Anthony Maddie, a senior quarterback, and senior guard R.J. Morris as lineman of the year. Junior wide receiver/defensive backs Cory Windle and Brandon Mayes joined the pair as Eagles all-conference selections along with Mitch Holtz and Kenny McCracken, both senior running back/linebackers.
Three seniors represented Aurora Central Catholic as Gold all-conference players – quarterback Kyle Clechenko, linebacker Nick Holzer and lineman A.T. White.
