Preps 24/7: St. Charles East, Wheaton Academy part of '12 Proviso West field

The St. Charles East and Wheaton Academy boys basketball teams will be part of the expanded 2012 Proviso West Holiday Tournament field.

The prestigious event is expanding from 16 teams to 32 for next year, and East and Wheaton Academy – both of which were part of Glenbard West's tournament this year – will help fill out the field, the tournament organizer announced.

The stacked Proviso West tournament included a large number of powerhouse programs. Proviso East won the title this year.

The expanded field will cause games to be played simultaneously in multiple gyms for some of the tournament days. The event will begin on Dec. 22.
