PLANO – Aurora Central Catholic's motion offense overwhelmed the Joliet Catholic girls basketball team on Wednesday night.

"We just took it right at them. We saw their propensity to foul," Chargers coach Mark Fitzgerald said. "Both their bigs fouled out, and after that they didn't have as much height."

The top-seeded Chargers attempted 50 free throws – and made 37 – in a 61-54 victory in an IHSA Class 2A Plano Regional semifinal, easily the key in what was an otherwise hotly-contested game.

"The game was like 100 hours long," Fitzgerald said. "They were a really scrappy team. They battled us all the way."

Jackie Cardona led the Chargers with 21 points.

ACC advanced to Thursday's regional title game against the host Reapers, a 38-35 winner against Aurora Christian. The Eagles had a chance to tie the game on a three-pointer in the final seconds, but could not convert.
