Prep roundup: Aurora Central Catholic girls basketball survives regional opener

PLANO – The top-seeded Aurora Central Catholic girls basketball team edged Joliet Catholic, 61-54, on Wednesday in an IHSA Class 2A Plano Regional semifinal.

ACC advanced to face the winner of the semifinal between Aurora Christian and Plano for the regional title at 7:30 tonight. Results of that game were not available at press time.

The Chargers, a school-best 21-6, led by as many as 10 points in the third quarter but were ahead only by one during one stretch.

St. Charles co-op gymnast Arnold lone automatic qualifier
CAROL STREAM – St. Charles co-op senior gymnast Kaylee Arnold was the lone automatic qualifier at Wednesday's Glenbard North Sectional, finishing fifth place individually in the vault.

Geneva finished in fifth place in the team competition, won by Glenbard North.

Additional at-large individual qualifiers for the state meet will be announced later.
