Kaneland girls soccer season ends with narrow defeat

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The Kaneland girls soccer team suffered a season-ending loss to Crystal Lake Central on Wednesday, falling, 1-0, in a Class 2A Burlington Central Regional semifinal.

"We just didn't seem to get anything going today, and you know, that's a bummer," Knights coach Scott Parillo said. "These are good kids. It just didn't seem like it would click at all today. We just couldn't keep connecting the passes like we had done all season long."

Knights junior goalkeeper Jordan Ginther backed her team with solid play, allowing only a 25-yard blast from the Tigers' Madie Edwards with 7:45 to play. Edwards boomed the ball toward the top right of the goal to narrowly beat Ginther.

"I got a piece of it," Ginther said, "but it was just a really good shot."

Kaneland finished the season at 12-6-1 and allowed only 14 goals in 19 matches.
