Campus Notes: June 22, 2012

• John Luis Galvan of Sugar Grove graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois at Springfield with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

• Jenna Chapman of Geneva was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.

• Doug Conroy, a senior and son of Douglas and Julie Conroy of Geneva, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Purdue University in West. Lafayette, Ind. He is a 2008 graduate of Marmion Academy in Aurora.

• Three area students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis. They are Evelyn Wippich and Anna Wollwert of Batavia and Ryan Engesser of St. Charles.

• Two area students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. They are Kimberly Pierce of South Elgin and Taylor Whitley of Geneva.

• Several area students graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, this spring. They are Nathan Dallas Peters of Elburn; James David Acton, Jesse Patrick Neubauer, Kaitlyn W. Pennybacker, and Nicholas Rosario Sparacio, all of Geneva; Sarah Elizabeth French, Robert Douglas Hillard, Kailee Marie Rose, and Jason Carl Shallcross, all of St. Charles.

• Angelo Catalano, son of Vince and Melanie Catalano of St. Charles, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. The sophomore is president of the Theta Chi Fraternity and a 2010 graduate of St. Charles North High School.

• Jonathan Maret of Geneva was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Montana State University in Billings, Mont.

• Elisabeth Claire York, a biology major from Geneva, was named to the spring semester president’s list at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

• Patrick Hussman, the son of Greg and Kim Hussman of Batavia, received a Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He is a 2004 graduate of Batavia High School. Hussman has a postdoctoral position researching in the department of neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. Hussman and his wife reside in Bethesda, Md.

• Three area students were named to the spring semester provost and vice president for academic affairs list at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. They are Emily Rose Fahey, a nursing major from Elburn; Lindsay Nicole Burcham, a justice systems major from Geneva; and Wesley Michael Allen, an exercise science major from St. Charles.

• Courtney Theisen, daughter of Kevin and Nancy Theisen of Batavia, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Western Illinois University in Macomb.

• Several area students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. They are Brian Patrick Barrett and Ashley Gladis of Batavia; Lily Portia Garrison and Lauren Meredith Gould of Elburn; Brianna Adair Nesbitt, Kevin Norman Plagge, Frances Siciliano, Matthew Robert Smith, and Jena Nicole Thomas, all of Geneva; Mary Kate Brooks, Brendon Nicholas Jones, Ronald John Kowalski, Amanda Rae Martines, Taylore Monegato, Jenna Trusso, and Ryan James Whittington, all of St. Charles; and Michael Dalbke and Meagan Marie Diede of South Elgin.

• Two area students were named to the honors list at the University of Wisconson at Stevens Point. They are Taylor A. Burns, highest honors, of Geneva, and Taylor M. Hecht, honors, of St. Charles.

• Michael Sentman of Batavia has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Trine University in Angola, Ind. Sentman is a senior majoring in chemical engineering.

• Thomas M. Vant of St. Charles was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.
