Local charities get creative in fundraising, providing services

But in recent years, Graff, executive director at the South Elgin shelter, has found creative ways to do more with less.

“Budgeting? Yes, it continues to be a challenge,” Graff said. “We’re working hard all the time to pare down our expenses because as an organization that relies on the kindness of others, we’re always working to match our revenues to our expenses as much as possible.”
