Hoffman Estates man dies in Campton Township crash
CAMPTON TOWNSHIP – A Hoffman Estates man died and two others were injured Thursday morning when a car driven by the man hit a tree on Empire Road, west of Kings Wood Road in Campton Township, said Lt. Pat Gengler of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash took place shortly after midnight. Police said the initial investigation indicates that a 2007 Nissan Altima, driven by Dustin Jordan, 24, of Hoffman Estates, was traveling on Kings Wood Road at a high speed. The vehicle went off the road on the north side of Empire Road and struck a tree. Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gengler said Jordan had been wearing a safety belt. The car appeared to have been traveling at least 50 mph; the speed limit is 40 mph.
