Kaneland football opener to be played at Gately

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

MAPLE PARK – The Kaneland football team’s season opener at Brooks on Aug. 25 will be played at Gately Stadium in Chicago, Brooks athletic director Matt Barrett said.

The game’s venue had not been listed on the IHSA’s website and there was some uncertainty in the Kaneland athletic department this week about where the game would be played.

Gately Stadium is located at 810 E. 103rd St. on the south side of Chicago. Kick-off for the game is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Brooks, a member of the Chicago Public League’s Illini Conference, is coming off a 5-5 season in 2011. The Knights finished 12-1 and were state semifinalists in Class 5A.
