Police investigate report of man approaching girl

GENEVA – The Kane County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a suspicious incident that took place Sunday in the Mill Creek subdivision.

About 6:45 p.m., sheriff’s deputies received a report of a man in a car who approached a 10-year-old girl in the area of Dobson Lane and Callighan Lane in the Mill Creek subdivision near Geneva. The man asked the girl whether she had ever seen a grown man naked, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.

The man did not exit his car during the contact and left immediately after speaking to her. The girl ran to a nearby residence and reported the incident, the news release stated.

Sheriff deputies spoke to the girl and several witnesses, who described the subject as a white man in his 30s with dark, shoulder-length hair. The man, who also might have a goatee and possibly was wearing sunglasses, was driving a black, full-sized, four-door vehicle with a loud muffler.

Sheriff’s deputies did not locate anyone matching the description provided. The department encourages residents to call 911 if they see anyone matching this description and to talk to their kids about stranger danger. Parents also are encouraged to keep a close eye on their children when they are outside.
