NORTH AURORA – North Aurora Village President Dale Berman has announced he will run for another term next April.

"I wanted to make my announcement early," the 78-year-old Berman said. He first served as North Aurora village president from 1985 to 1989, and returned to the office in 2009 when he was elected to succeed Village President John Hansen, who did not run for re-election.

Berman was a North Aurora village trustee for 14 years.

Candidates for the April 2013 election can start circulating nominating petitions on Sept. 25. Petitions need to be filed by Dec. 24. No candidates have announced they plan to run against Berman. He pointed to several village projects that were completed during his term, including the $1.6 million renovation of North Aurora Village Hall and the construction of a new police station.

"They both came in on time and under budget," Berman said.

The Village Hall was built in 1972, and a police station was added in 1990. Village Hall has expanded into the space vacated by the police station, which last year moved into its own building at Airport Road and Route 31.

He also noted that North Aurora continues to attract new businesses. A CVS pharmacy is set to open soon at Mooseheart/Orchard and Randall roads.

Work also started recently on a Speedway gas station at the corner of Route 31 and Sullivan Road.
