Face Time with Justin Smitherman

Elburn resident Justin Smitherman, 28, was running a benefit at Schmidt’s Towne Tap in Elburn when he answered 12 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Al Lagattolla.

Where did you up? Iowa.

Do you have any pets? A Yorkshire terrier, Zoey.

Do you have any family? I just got married to Carly in July.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Everyone tells me Adam Sandler looks like me. And I like to have a lot of fun. So let’s say Adam Sandler.

What was your first job? Detassling corn.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a comedian. I was always a prankster or jokester.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I golf all the time.

Do you have a favorite charity? Everything that’s military related. Operation Support Our Troops and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Do you have any hobbies? I like to hang out with my wife. I like watching sports, college football, and I’m a huge baseball fan.

Are you a fan of the Cubs or the Sox? Cubs, and the Baltimore Orioles.

What is your favorite local restaurant? Paisano’s. The food is great, and they give back to the community. And Schmidt’s Towne Tap, too. Their pub burgers are awesome.

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I’ve been in eight different countries. And the only state I haven’t been to is Alaska.
