Batavia homecoming parade means kickoff inching closer

Batavia on Wednesday held it annual homecoming parade, providing both excitement and the latest reminder of the football team's game against Streamwood Friday night.

"It's kind of an old-fashioned feeling where the kids come through town on trucks and fire trucks," Bulldogs coach Dennis Piron said. "In a town like Batavia, it still feels like a small town at times. I really want to thank our mayor and our officials and our police force and our administration, because it's not an easy thing to do."

Piron, a Batavia alum, has seen homecoming through multiple vantage points. He still gets a kick out of the younger children lining the streets.

"Boy, they love a parade," Piron said, "and it's a good time in our town."
