Third Ward Alderman Rogina to run for St. Charles mayor
ST. CHARLES – Third Ward Alderman Ray Rogina on Friday announced he will run for St. Charles mayor next spring.
He said in a written statement he has a strong bond with the city, as it is where he has spent most of his life and career.
"As in my candidacy for alderman, I view public service as a wonderful opportunity," he said. "It is an opportunity to improve our community with the help of colleagues, staff, and citizens."
Current Mayor Don DeWitte announced last month that he will not seek a third term. Rogina is the first person to publicly say he wants the job.
Rogina, a retired educator, is in his first term as alderman, an office he was elected to in 2011.
