If Coach Sly's yawning tonight, it has more to do with the butt kickings up and down the area than the late hours Sly tends to keep.
Guess it was predictable considering the matchups, but there wasn't a hint of fourth quarter drama for any of our teams tonight. Here a blowout, there a blowout, everywhere a blowout/blowout.
Needless to say, blowout wins are a heckuva lot better than blowout losses, so Batavia, Geneva, Kaneland, St. Charles North and Aurora Christian and ACC aren't sweating the lack of drama.
Matter of fact, you can bet a confidence-building win is just what the North Stars and Vikings needed after starting the season 0-3.
It had to be a great feeling for the North offense to pile up points after being stymied throughout the early going. Definitely something to build on.
As for Geneva, lemme get this straight ... one of the area's most inexperienced teams is going to get better by turning the QB spot over to a freshman? Maybe or maybe not, but if the young fella is the Vikings' best option at this point, more power to him. Then again, the way Hess ran the rock on Friday, pick someone out of the band to get under center, and you can make it work.
Batavia and Kaneland just keep rolling. Winning machines.
Disappointing performance by the Fighting Saints against a very, very good Neuqua team, but you know East will get well against Elgin.
After a forgettable Week 4, Sly's already looking forward to next week. North-Geneva, Batavia-Lake Park, Aurora Christian-St. Francis, etc. Now those are some games with yawn-stifling potential.
