ST. CHARLES – A 19-year-old Batavia man faces three felony charges after he broke into the Pottawatomie Park Golf Course clubhouse, according to a St. Charles Police Department news release.

Police responded to the golf course, 845 N. Second Ave., at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday for an activated alarm. The first officer on the scene reportedly found a hole cut into the drywall and tools left at the scene.

Entry also had been made to the pool area, police said.

Additional officers searched the building and surrounding area for the offender. Officers reportedly found footprints north of the building, and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team was called to the search.

As officers followed the footprints, an officer on the outer perimeter saw a male subject walking out of a wooded area north of the golf course, police said. He then reportedly entered a car parked on North Second Avenue and drove from the scene.

Police stopped the car on North Third Avenue and identified the driver as Taylor Brooks Erickson of the 700 block of Walnut Street.

He was taken into custody and charged with possession of burglary tools, a Class 4 felony, and two counts of burglary, a Class 2 felony.

He was at bond call late Wednesday afternoon.
