Poet Richard Holinger is first guest in Writers Center Reading Series

ELGIN – The first guest in the Elgin Community College 2012-13 Writers Center Reading Series will be poet Richard Holinger.

The free event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the ECC Arts Center, Building H, Room H142, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Holinger’s work has appeared in The Southern Review, The Iowa Review, Boulevard, and Witness. His chapbook, “Hybrid Seeds: Little Fictions,” was published last year, and this year, he won the Split Oak Press Flash Prose contest for his upcoming chapbook, “Not Everybody’s Nice.”

An English teacher at Marmion Academy in Aurora with a 30-year track record, Holinger also has a Ph.D. in creative writing.

Holinger also founded and facilitates the St. Charles Writers Group.

He will be available for a signing, and his work will be available to purchase at the event.
