Resident builds welcome cart for garden

GENEVA – Nico Casasanto of Geneva spent part of his summer crafting a welcome cart for the Fabyan Japanese Garden at the Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva. Operators of the garden, the Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley, sought a volunteer woodworker to make a new cart for use during the Japanese Garden’s public operating hours.

Thanks to social media connections, Casasanto responded within half an hour of the posting.
He recently graduated from Yale University, spent the summer in Geneva working as a painter, and departed in August for a position teaching math and physics in England.

The Preservation Partners group and its garden volunteers are grateful for Casasanto’s time and skill and are enjoying the custom-designed welcome cart during public hours – Wednesday and Sunday afternoons through Oct. 15.
