CAMPTON HILLS – An hourslong discussion Monday about a proposed residential addiction rehabilitation center did not result in a vote by the Campton Hills Plan Commission.
Village officials said Tuesday the commission will revisit the topic later.
Kiva Recovery is seeking annexation and a special-use permit to turn the former Glenwood School property into a private, high-end residential addiction treatment center at 41W400 Silver Glen Road.
Monday, the Plan Commission hosted a public hearing on the topic. More than 100 people attended the event, which lasted until about 11 p.m.
Critics of the proposal have been collecting signatures against the facility and have left fliers opposing the center on vehicles. Monday, at least one person handed attendees a memo and list of reasons to oppose Kiva Recovery.
A three-page document about Kiva Recovery is available on the village’s website, www.villageofcamptonhills.org. It provides information such as the type facility Kiva Recovery will operate; the background of Kiva’s leadership; the type of clients the center will serve; the facility’s effect on property taxes; and precautions Kiva will take to ensure safety and privacy.
