Prep Roundup: Rosary girls tennis sweeps doubles, defeats Yorkville
YORKVILLE – The Rosary girls tennis team rebounded from a pair of lopsided singles losses and swept doubles play, keying a 4-2, nonconference victory Monday at Yorkville.
“One of the things we’ve been stressin,g since we’re getting close to championship season, is executing and making good shot selection and getting in good position on the court,” Royals coach John Tsang said. “That was something that definitely was encouraging from the girls at doubles.
Rosary’s top pairing of Megan Conlin and Andrea Goyao set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0, victory. The No. 2 tandem of Paige Robinson and Maddie Deufel cruised, 6-2, in the opening set before falling, 4-6, in the second, but Tsang lauded the pair’s resiliency when it closed the match with a 6-0 win in the third set.
