Voting for Colonial Café’s presidential poll begins

For the past 48 years, Colonial Café & Ice Cream has hosted a presidential poll where customers ordering ice cream can cast a vote for who they think will win this year’s election.

Voting for this year’s Presidential Sundaes Election Straw Poll  began Sept. 24 and runs through Nov. 4.
To sweeten the election, the café has also created two presidential candidate sundaes: The Ba-racky Road Sunday, a chocolate chip and chocolate ice cream creation topped with hot fudge, marshmallow, chopped almonds, whipped cream, a cherry and an American flag; and Mitt’s Mint Fudge is a mint-chocolate chip and chocolate ice cream sundae topped with crumbled Oreo, hot fudge, whipped cream, a whole Oreo, a cherry and an American Flag.

Each week tallies will be reported through Election Day – Tuesday, Nov. 6. Weekly results will compare local voting to national polls and cite variations in Democratic vs. Republican leanings.

Customers can vote at all seven Colonial Café locations in Algonquin, Aurora, Crystal Lake, Elgin, Naperville and St. Charles.
