Batavia MainStreet takes home awards

BATAVIA – Batavia MainStreet has been awarded Lieutenant Governor Awards of Excellence in Revitalization in the categories of Design, Promotion and Economic Restructuring.

Earlier this month, Quincy played host to the 2012 annual Illinois Main Street State Conference.

“I am honored to be representing Batavia and all the hard work of the MainStreet committees,” Joi Cuartero, executive director of Batavia MainStreet, said in a news release. “There is so much for Batavia to be proud of, and we have great people who step up to implement these award-winning programs here at MainStreet.”

What do you think of people using fireworks near their homes?

That shouldn't be tolerated. It's dangerous.
I'd never do it, but I'll watch others.
It's OK so long as the fireworks are legal.
It's not a problem. It's just a way to celebrate.
I have no opinion.
