District 101 to publish salary list
BATAVIA – Residents can find out how much Batavia School District 101 paid its teachers and administrators in the past year by going to the district’s website.
School board members on Tuesday voted to post the administrator and teacher salary report on the district’s website, www.bps101.net, by Monday.
According to state law, on or before Oct. 1 of each year, school districts must post on their website an itemized salary compensation report for every certified employee in the district, including administrators, teaching staff and the district superintendent. The report shows the salaries paid in the district’s 2011-12 fiscal year.
In addition, districts are required to post the same information for employees eligible for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund with a total compensation package equaling or exceeding $70,000. The report also lists the number of vacation and sick days the employees have as well as any bonuses, annuities, retirement enhancement and other benefits.
According to the report, District 101 Superintendent Jack Barshinger was paid a base salary of $233,620 and a $7,300 bonus. He also received $25,000 in annuities and $62,523 in other benefits.
The school board has started the search to replace Barshinger, who will retire in June. Barshinger recently announced he was retiring to spend more time with family. He has served as superintendent since 2006, and he has worked in education for 38 years.
