District 101 recognized for energy savings

BATAVIA – Employees and students at Batavia School District 101 are achieving savings with energy-efficient behavior – and those habits are earning national recognition.

The school district has achieved an 18 percent cost savings totaling $788,298 in 29 months since forming a strategic alliance with Energy Education, a national energy conservation company. The organization presented the district with its Environmental Excellence Award at the Batavia school board meeting Tuesday.

“Reaching this level of savings at this stage of the program is a significant achievement,” said William Spears, chairman and founder of Energy Education, in a news release. “Batavia School District 101 has done an excellent job of implementing Energy Education’s organizational behavior-based approach to energy conservation and maintaining productive efforts at all levels of the organization.”
