Naperville man gets 15 years in sex assault of St. Charles girl

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A Naperville man was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison for having sexual contact with a St. Charles girl.

Thad W. Sugay, 23, agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony.

Associate Judge James C. Hallock accepted the plea.

Between October 2008 and April 2010, Sugay had sexual contact with a girl he knew when he lived with her family in St. Charles. She was younger than 13 at the time of the contact.

Sugay must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He was given credit for 252 days served in the Kane County jail, where he had been held on $100,000 bail.

Upon his release from prison, Sugay must register for life as a sex offender.

The Kane County Child Advocacy Center, with assistance from the DuPage County Child Advocacy Center, investigated the case. It was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State's Attorney Lori Schmidt.
