Elburn Lions to host 20th car show
ELBURN – The 20th annual Elburn Lions Fall Classic All Wheel Show will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lions Park at 500 S. Filmore St., Elburn.
There will be 41 classes for cars, trucks and motorcycles, from Model A’s and Model T’s to modern muscle cars. Awards begin at 3 p.m., Lions Club member Jeffrey Miller said.
Spectators are admitted free. Vehicle entry is $12 when registered in advance and $15 at the gate. Registration closes at noon. The event will go on rain or shine.
A raffle drawing for $2,500 or a 383 Chevrolet Stroker motor will be after the awards. The eight-cylinder engine was built by Built Rite Motors, Lombard, and produces 400 horsepower. Raffle tickets are $10 each with a 750 ticket limit. A 50/50 raffle also will be held, with tickets $1 apiece, Miller said.
There will be food – coffee and doughnuts in the morning and free chili while it lasts – DJ music by Carousel Sound, a swap meet and craft show. Steak sandwiches and pork tenderloins will be available for purchase. All food is provided by the Leo Club, the youth division of the Lions Club.
Sporting events will be shown on TV in the clubhouse, and a children’s playground will be available. No dogs are allowed in the park.
More than 300 cars and motorcycles took part in the 2011 event.
All proceeds will go to Lions charities. The financial goal is $4,000, which the club’s charities committee will decide how to spend, Miller said.
