Prep Roundup: St. Charles East shuts out Plainfield North in boys soccer
ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles East boys soccer team blasted Plainfield North, 7-0, on Monday night in a nonconference match.
Zach Manibog scored a pair of goals in quick succession before halftime to pad East’s lead to 4-0. T.C. Hull and Andrew Shone also scored twice for East (12-2-1) and Taylor Ortiz chipped in with what coach Paul Jennison called a ‘fantastic’ second goal of the night into the top, corner of the net.
“It was a nice game for us to get today after the homecoming weekend,” East coach Paul Jennison said. “It was good for the boys to get back to their winning ways and get focused in as we roll into Larkin tomorrow, which is a massive game in the standings.”
Chris Lucatorto and Mike Novotny combined on the shutout in net for the Saints.
St. Francis 2, Immaculate Conception 0 (25-8, 25-13): At Elmhurst, Becca Shearer had six kills and Maddie Haggerty had five as St. Francis (25-5, 8-0 Suburban Christian Conference Blue) drilled Immaculate Conception. Lexie Riccolo (11 service points), Sam Dubiel (10 service points) and McKenna Kelsay (22 assists) were also among the Spartans’ leaders.
Wheaton Academy 2, Montini 0 (25-20, 25-23): At West Chicago, Bianca Cifaldi had 14 kills and Sarah McClain dished 24 assists for Wheaton Academy (23-7, 6-2 SCC Gold).
St. Francis 4, St. Charles North 3: At St. Charles, Claire Eckert and Ava Kolman won both singles matches for St. Francis and the Spartans’ Annemarie Jagielo and Alexis Langley won the No. 1 doubles match in a super tiebreaker against North’s Faith Oehlerking and Ashley Randazzo.
Kaneland 6, Mendota 1: At Maple Park, Kaneland swept doubles play on senior night, including a dominant showing at No. 4 doubles from Danielle McCormack and Abby Meyer.
