"Today’s report that the unemployment rate is at a new low of 7.8 percent is encouraging news for middle class families in Illinois,” said Bill Foster. “Our economy was badly damaged in the last decade as a result of Congresswoman Biggert’s party line votes that deregulated Wall Street, inflated the housing bubble, and drove us into debt with unproductive tax cuts for the wealthy and for the corporations who fund her campaigns. But history has told us that the economy does best when the middle class prospers, and we need leaders in Washington who will continue to fight for the middle class and keep our economic recovery on track
