Our View: Be part of the election process

The presidential candidates had their first debate. Those vying for local offices are showing up at forums throughout the county. Election season is in full swing, as we head toward the Nov. 6 vote.

Are you registered? This is the time to check. Tuesday is the last day to register, although there is a grace-period registration opportunity that runs through Nov. 3. You’ll want to have your voice heard, as Kane County voters will face some key decisions.

Many who register will be excited about the presidential race between Democrat and current President Barack Obama and his challenger, Republican Mitt Romney. It’s an important choice, of course, but tremendous impact can be made elsewhere, as well. All Kane County Board seats are up for election – although not all are contested – and Kane County voters will determine a new board chairman, coroner, auditor, circuit clerk and recorder.
