Walk with me

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

This week was International Walk to School Day and several Tri-City communities took part in encouraging parents and their children to walk together to school. The event started in the United States in 1997 and went international with the inclusion of Canada and the United Kingdom in 2000.

I sounded like my grandmother telling stories of yore as I heard myself say out loud, "Every day was International Walk to School Day for me." Up hill, both ways and in the snow.

I did walk to school every single day from the first day of kindergarten until I talked my mom into giving me rides to high school. I actually loved the time it gave me with my best friend who was in a different grade so we never saw each other during the school day.

Wednesday reminded me of those perfect fall mornings we used to have on our way to school.
