Geneva teachers expected to picket tonight's meeting

GENEVA – Members of the Geneva Education Association, the teachers union for Geneva District 304, are planning an informational picket at the school board meeting, from 6:45 to 7:15 tonight.

The school board meets at 7 p.m. at Coultrap, 1113 Peyton St., but the entrance to the meeting room is on Lincoln Avenue.

Teachers union president Carol Young said teachers said teachers would picket on Lincoln Avenue up to Route 38 and back.

Teachers have been working without a new contract since Aug. 15, despite negotiating since February. The two sides have been in mediation since July.
