Plan commission to review downtown Geneva proposal

GENEVA – The Geneva Plan Commission will review the city’s proposed Downtown/Station-Area Master Plan at its 7 p.m. Thursday meeting at the City Council chambers, 109 James St.

The request is to amend the city’s comprehensive plan for the geographic area bound by North Street and Wheeler Park, Bennett and Crissey streets, the county government center and railroad tracks, Anderson Boulevard and Geneva Golf Club.

A comprehensive inventory and analysis of existing conditions and trends and community workshops with residents, business owners and property owners went into the draft plan. It covers land use and development, transportation, civic and public areas and beautification and urban design. Among the goals put forth in the draft plan are ways to strengthen the city’s central business district as a regional destination area.
