Batavia MainStreet board revises mission

BATAVIA – Batavia MainStreet has revised its mission to add a focus that emphasizes supporting the downtown’s businesses, encouraging new businesses and developing the downtown.

“The wish to add a business focus came because business retention and recruitment is something that MainStreet already does, and we want to make sure we reflect everything we do in our vision,” Kurt Hagemann, owner of Hagemann Wealth Management and vice president of the MainStreet board, said in a news release.

The new vision reads, “Our vision is to help create a unique and vital downtown that enriches the business community embraces history, celebrates the arts, preserves our natural environment and promotes quality events to instill a ‘sense of place’ in our community.”

What do you think of people using fireworks near their homes?

That shouldn't be tolerated. It's dangerous.
I'd never do it, but I'll watch others.
It's OK so long as the fireworks are legal.
It's not a problem. It's just a way to celebrate.
I have no opinion.
