GENEVA – Imagine a football game in which the stadium is decorated with pink balloons, the crowd is wearing pink and waving pink rally towels in a total “Pink Out” to support research to cure breast cancer.

That is what is expected Friday at the Geneva High School varsity football game against Metea Valley. The last home game of the season begins at 7:30 p.m. at Burgess Field, and breast cancer survivors will be honored on the field at halftime. A local florist donated pink carnations for the survivor ceremony.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Co-activities directors Mary Keyzer and Emma Williams worked with students to organize the event after American Cancer Society staff partner Megan Goldbeck, the affiliate for the Fox Valley region, contacted the school’s athletic department, Keyzer said.
