St. Charles Park District hires two new employees

ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Park District has two new employees.

One of the new hires is a supervisor for the St. Charles Park District Community Center. In that position, employee Lara Piner is responsible for the operations of the Pottawatomie Community Center, with a focus on community service, facility scheduling, special events and adult programming.

Piner comes to the St. Charles Park District with several years of park and recreation experience with the Northfield, Waukegan and Oakbrook Terrace park districts.

Piner is a certified park and recreation professional through the National Park and Recreation Association. She’s also a certified program planner through the Learning Resources Network Institute. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in recreation administration from Aurora University.

The park district also recently hired Michael Spencer Reed as its information technology manager. He will oversee all aspects of the district’s technology and telecommunications.

Reed comes from the Des Plaines Park District and also worked at a computer management agency that specialized in library networks. He also spent a few years as a freelance computer consultant. Reed is a Microsoft Certified Systems engineer.
