AURORA – Aurora police continue to investigate a bomb threat that evacuated Aurora University's Institute for Collaboration on Thursday morning.

The bomb threat was called at 9:15 a.m.

"The building was evacuated, and we did a thorough search with canine units," Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said. "We didn't find anything."

According to Aurora University's website, the building reopened at 12:30 p.m., but classes were cancelled for the rest of the day. Ferrelli said he didn't know how many people were in the building when it was evacuated.

Ferrelli said the bomb threat was not connected to a separate bomb threat at 3:04 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Middle School in Aurora. Aurora police officers were dispatched to the school in reference to a student claiming he was in possession of a bomb.

"The school was evacuated," Ferrelli said. "Apparently, this was a hoax."

Police took a 12-year-old boy into custody. The student's locker was searched, and nothing was found, Ferrelli said.

All the students in the school were safe, according to the school's website.
