Elburn Station vote likely Monday

ELBURN – The long-awaited vote on the plans for the Elburn Station development appear to be on track for Monday.

Village President Dave Anderson said he expects the Village Board will have all members present. Anderson has said he wants every member to cast a vote on the plan, in which Geneva-based developer ShoDeen would build more than 2,200 homes – including more than 1,300 apartments – in the village over the next two decades.

An item on the meeting agenda calls for approving annexation and zoning for Elburn Station.

The issue has not faced a vote in the past, partially because not all members have been present at meetings.

"It's my intention, yes, provided everybody is there," Anderson said of a vote Monday.

The board meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall, 301 E. North St., Elburn.

Anderson has wanted to wait until every board member could vote, recognizing the importance of the plan, which potentially would double the town's population. Residents for and against the proposal have spoken at board meetings, although there were more who spoke against it.
